2.2.1 Welds. Welds shall be of the resistance spot weld type as shown on the AED. Prior to welding, the pans shall be appropriately cleaned and coated with an epoxy based zinc rich weld through primer or an equivalent suitable primer.
2.3 Weld strength. The weldment of a simulated shall be a separated by driving a chisel between the welded components in an unwelded area or by peeling one sheet back against the weld until failure occurs around the periphery of the weld or until the part fails. Failure of the base metal outside the weld area shall be evidence that the welds are satisfactory. The minimum button diameter, as measured in two perpendicular directions of the faying surface, shall be 6 mm.
2.4 Protective finish. Cleaning, pretreating, priming, and painting of the bracket assembly shall conform to an appropriate CARC paint system selected from drawing number 12369000 for external applications. Color of paint final top coat shall be green 383 (see 5.1.1).
2.5 Identification markings. Identification marking shall be placed on the bracket assembly as shown in figure 1. It shall be permanent and legible and shall include, as a minimum, the manufacturer’s identification code (CAGE), manufacturer’s part number and the part identification number (PIN) A52513-1.
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
3.1 Responsibility for inspections. The contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspections (examinations and tests).
3.2 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and quality assurance practices. Items with known defects shall not be submitted for Government acceptance. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as maybe otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
4. PRESERVATION, PACKAGING, PACKING, LABELING, AND MARKING.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking for the desired level shall be as specified in the contract (see 5.2).
